DO GET TRAVEL INSURANCE

This is less about South Africa and more a tip for travelling anywhere in the world, no matter how “safe” it seems. Comprehensive travel insurance is essential. Whether or not you end up using it, you’ll be glad of the peace of mind it brings.

DON’T FORGET TO TIP

Tipping is a part of the South African culture. One is expected to tip at least 10% of the bill amount at restaurants, cafes as well as bars. Not doing so is considered impolite. This comes down to the dos and don’ts in South Africa. Also most of your Driver/Guide’s income comes from tips. Therefore, we recommend tipping them nicely at the end of your tour.

DO NOT EAT, SMOKE OR DRINK INSIDE THE VEHICLE

Eating, Drinking & Smoking is strictly prohibited inside the vehicles. In case there are is any damage to the vehicle by the guests, e.g. spilling of any drink which leaves a stain on the seat cover, the guests responsible for the need to have the vehicle professionally cleaned will be charged for said cleaning.

DO NOT MISHANDLE THE VEHICLE

Any instance for pushing or pulling the vehicle door harder than required which results in damage to the door, or a dent caused while putting luggage inside a vehicle or any other way from the client’s end will be charged to the clients account.

BAGGAE POLICY

We provide the vehicle based on a specific amount of luggage per adult i.e. one full sized and one medium sized suitcase/bag/luggage. In case the guests are travelling with extra luggage, they will have to pay extra for the luggage trailer or an alternative larger vehicle which should be pre-arranged buy informing us of your luggage requirements.

DO TAKE CARE OF YOUR BELONGINGS

It is advised to take care of your belongings and not leave anything in the vehicle after the completion of the tour/transfer. In case guests leave anything and want it to be delivered to them , it will result in an additional charge which the guests will need to pay prior to the sending of the items left behind. Also ELEPHANT HERD TOURS & SAFARIS, its officers, employees, agents, and representatives shall, to the fullest extent permitted by law, bear no responsibility or liability whatsoever for any loss, theft, or damage to property belonging to guests, whether such property is left unattended, misplaced, or otherwise. Guests acknowledge and agree that they retain full responsibility for their personal belongings and property at all times.

DO FOLLOW THE TIMINGS AS PER THE ITINERARY

The transfers for the tours are always booked for a certain time period therefore it is advisable to depart strictly as per  the time mentioned on the final itinerary, any extra hours spend due to any delay from the guests’ end will attract an additional fee which should be paid to the Driver/Guide directly.

HOTEL CHECK IN – CHECK OUT POLICY

The standard check-in time is 2pm & standard check-out time is 10am. Early check-ins & late check-outs can be requested by you to the hotels however it is at the discretion of the hotels, it cannot be guaranteed and may incur additional costs.
